The Stamford and District Local History Society was formed in 2013 to provide the town of Stamford with a more active local history society. Although the Society meets monthly during the winter months for lectures, it also encourages and promotes research into the history of Stamford. It is also actively involved in publishing the results of research carried out by members.
As the Society had its origins in the Stamford Survey Group, it inherited that group's archive of local history material when the group closed in 2012. This provides a useful basis for local history research, and is being added to all of the time.
